About Me
I am currently teaching high school English while working on my M.ED. in Secondary English Instruction. I am hopeful that this blog will provide a forum for thoughtful and engaging discussions about educational theory and various pedagogical practices.
I have transitioned through several careers throughout my short life, but I have always come back to education. I have a BA degree in English Literature, and I always thought that I would settle into a career in publishing. But my true passion kept tugging at my soul, and I found myself volunteering at high schools or rearranging my schedule so that I could work as a substitute at least once a week. I slowly came to realize that it wasn’t just the literature or writing that I loved…it was sharing the beauty of words with other people that really satisfied me most. I wanted to feel like I was really making a difference in this world, and I decided that giving young people the power of language really could make a difference. Thus, my passion became my career.
After accepting my current teaching position, I decided to come back to school for an education degree so that I can keep teaching as a permanent career. I think that the best teachers continuously collaborate with colleagues and are also reflective in their own practice. I hope that this blog and the class for which this blog was created will provide an opportunity for me to collaborate and reflect so that I can continue to grow as an educator.
